1998 "Nordpolexpressen"

Sjur Mördre, Knut Ås, Egil Nilsson and Lars Ebbesen (all N)
attempted the Ward Hunt Island Route(Canada) to the North Pole in under half the normal time. The expedition was set to take 25-30 days. Extremely light sledges were especially developed for this expedition. After a quick start the expedition was plague by bad luck. Lars Ebbesen fell through thin ice and was flown out. Extremely difficult ice conditions became the expedition's undoing. It was stopped approx. 200 km south of the North Pole.

2000 "Svensk Nordpolsekspedisjonen" Göran Kropp / Ola Skinnarmo (S)

The two experienced Swedes attempted the reach the North pole together.
Göran Kropp had to stop due to frostbite. Ola Skinnarmo reached the North Pole. During this expedition, problems arose with the pulkas supplied by us.
This led to substantial investigations into the causes: the lay-up of this model was then changed.

2000 "Arctic Ocean 2000" Rune Gjeldnes, Torry Larsen(N)

Surely an expedition to go down in history, like Nansen's or Amundsen's expeditions.

The two Norwegians were the first to cross the Arctic Ocean from Siberia via the North Pole to Canada unsupported. The success was made possible by the pair's experience and year-long preparation. 2 years were needed for the development of the sledges for this expedition.

The development team consisted of two Norwegian shipbuilders (Anders Ramstad / Håvard Worren), ACAPULKA SLEDGES, and Rune and Torry.

Under the leadership of the two experienced expedition professionals, each member of the team gave his best to the development and production of the sledges and thus to the success of the expedition.

The sledges received excellent reports from the two professionals.

2001 Börge Ousland - Unsupported Crossing (N)

He wasn't long in coming. Börge is surely one of the most experienced expedition professionals alive, not only for solo enterprises.
In the spring of 2001, Börge Ousland was the first to cross the Arctic Ocean solo.

In close cooperation with Börge, we developed a sledge according to his design sketches. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the original sledge had to be changed after only 2 days. Börge did not let himself be influenced by this blow, he continued the expedition and reached the Canadian mainland at the end of May..

2001 "Iditarod Trail , 1800 km on foot through Alaska" Are Johansen, Bengt Egil Rotmo (N)

From the middle of January until the middle of March, the two Norwegians traveled 1,800 km on foot across Alaska. The tour led along the route of the famous IDITAROD RACE, the dog sled race. The aim of this tour was not just the challenge of the route but also the indescribably beautiful natural environment through which they walked. An obvoiusly very interesting tour. Different from the extreme undertakings to the earth's poles. This tour used our commercially available ACAPULKA Scandic Tour 210.

2001 Henk de Velde round the world ( NL)

In July 2001, Henk de Velde left the Netherlands with his ship to sail around the world. He also planned to sail the passage north of Siberia. For this reason, he chose an ACAPULKA with "swim rings" as a dinghy for his 2-year tour. This " dinghy" gave him important safety reserves in the Arctic.

2002 Ann Daniels, Pom Oliver and Caroline Hamilton (all GB)

The 3 british women have successfully attempted to ski to the northpole in spring 2002.
See the message below that has been sent by the team manager on the day they have reached the pole:
I spoke to the team at 05.50am this morning (Sunday 2nd June 2002).

Day 81

  • Status - THEY HAVE MADE IT!!!
  • Position - Lat 90 00 Long 0 to 360 - On top of the world!
  • Weather - Perfect day for arrival at the Pole - Blue sky and not a breath of wind.
  • Next - The plane is on its way and will pick them up off the ice at about 10.00am (UK time) - they will spend 6-7hrs flying back to Eureka, where they will rest and refuel before flying on to Resolute Bay. We anticipate arrival back at Resolute early tomorrow (Monday) morning.

Achievements - for the avoidance of doubt, this mornings arrival creates two new records:

  • Caroline and Ann are the first female British explorers to have trekked to the geographic North Pole as part of an 'all female' expedition.

  • As members of the 2000 M&G ISA Challenge Expedition to the geographic South Pole, Caroline and Ann are the first female explorers in history to have trekked to both geographic Poles as part of 'all female' expeditions.

  • It is very important that these facts are put over correctly, so please ensure that these two achievements are explained in full if anyone asks you and that the fact that they have always been part of 'all female' expeditions is fully explained.

    Unlike some other women who have gone before them, to either one or both Poles, Caroline and Ann have done this without the help of either professional guides or men;

they themselves are professional explorers and have proved that women are the equal of men in what was once considered to be a very male dominated environment.

The girls are intensely proud of what they have achieved and just want to show all females out there that two ordinary women really can achieve the extra-ordinary.

2002 Tom and Tina Sjøgren (S)

They have actually made it!!!
Just a few people believed that it was possible, T`N`T showed them that it is.
They have reached the northpole in May 2002 unsupported. That means no resupplies of food or what so ever other equipment. Now they have been on skies for several months.
First the south pole, then a few weeks later start to the north pole.
A long journey found its happy end! Gratulations for this extraordinary achievement.
